Consultant pharmacist Larry Galluzzo, R.Ph., founded Skilled Care Pharmacy in 1981 with a single office, an employee and three skilled nursing facilities as customers. Word soon spread that Skilled Care Pharmacy was a different kind of institutional pharmacy –- one philosophically dedicated to doing what’s best for facilities, nursing staff and residents.

As it turned out, putting customers, nursing staff and residents first didn’t hinder Skilled Care Pharmacy, and today, we are one of the leading Midwestern providers of pharmacy services for long-term care facilities, serving over 10,000 patients in over 100 facilities. More than 260 employees offer a full range of services, including pharmaceuticals, training and education, consulting, billing and other customer care services.

Skilled Care Pharmacy has outgrown its local offices four times, settling in 2007 in a beautiful 40,000-square-foot facility centrally located in Mason, Ohio.

In 1999 we continued our growth as we opened a second location in Twinsburg, Ohio, to serve facilities in Northeastern Ohio and due to growth this location has expanded and will be moving to a new location in 2013. Then in 2008 we opened a third location in the Indianapolis area to serve facilities throughout the state of Indiana.

Leadership

Skilled Care of Indiana is centrally located in the Indianapolis area and is capable of serving facilities throughout Indiana. While the ownership and executive management is based at Skilled Care’s headquarters in Mason, Ohio, Skilled Care of Indiana has a strong team of local managers who handle all day to day operations and decision making.

The Skilled Care of Indiana team is lead by Cindy Barker, RPh. Director of Pharmacy, along with Dana Peterman, Front End Operations Manager and Ron Clark, Pharmacy Operations Manager.

Cindy Barker, RPh. - Director of Pharmacy

Prior to joining Skilled Care of Indiana in 2010, Cindy held a variety of leadership roles in different pharmacy practice settings, including several years of long term care pharmacy management. She received her BS in Pharmacy from Butler University in Indianapolis, Indiana in 1989 and started her career in long term care pharmacy as a manager directly after graduating. Over the years Cindy has worked not only managing the operations, but also as a consultant pharmacist, staff pharmacist and an on call pharmacist. She has gained knowledge and experience in all aspects of the long term care pharmacy industry and brings her extensive skills to lead the team at Skilled Care of Indiana.

Dana Peterman - Front End Operations Manager

Currently serving as the front end operations manager, Dana Peterman oversees order entry, medical records, customer service and billing. Dana joined Skilled Care in 2008 bringing with her 15 years of experience in long term care pharmacy. In herrole Dana works closely with the Directors of Nursing and Staff Development Coordinators to educate nursing staff on pharmacy policy and procedures with in-services while also maintaining the emergency drug cabinets in each facility. Dana also serves as our customer care representative.

Ron Clark – Pharmacy Operations Quality Assurance Senior Manager

With his extensive experience in the pharmacy industry initiated in 1985, Ron Clark has been with Skilled Care Pharmacy for nearly seventeen years. His experience prior to Skilled Care included working in the retail management sector of the pharmacy industry, in which he worked for 10 years after attending the University of Cincinnati. While Ron served many roles in the Mason location of Skilled Care, he was also an integral part of the team that helped open the current Skilled Care of Indiana division and subsequently went on to accept his current senior management role in Indianapolis. Ron’s responsibilities include inventory management, purchasing, and all aspects of technician management.
